How to choose the right trade show for you
Before you decide upon the best trade show to attend there are several factors to take into consideration:
- Marketing Strategy
– Does the show help you to achieve your objective? E.g.; launching a new product; marketing your brand or presenting new technology? - How successful is the event?
– How long has it been running? Who is organising it? Do the organisers run other successful events? What is the general feedback from those who have attended in the past? How many visitors are expected to turn up at the event? - What other similar events are there?
– Are they better attended? Are they cheaper to attend? Is there more floor space for the money? Is the other event booked up? - Who exactly will be attending?
– The best floor spaces are likely to be booked as soon as the previous show ends. Which shows are your competitors attending? - What type of visitor are the organisers trying to attract? Are they likely to be your customers?
Once you have satisfied these criteria then you can formulate a schedule to enrol, prepare for and attend the event.
What do you need to do next?
- Register your interest online
- Allocate your budget for the event
- Choose and train suitable staff
- Decide on a theme
- Attend the show in advance if possible
- Prepare promotional literature and free gifts
- Organise the booth
- Think about entertaining your visitors
