Make Working From Home Easy!
Over the past 18 months, many of us have been working from home. As we enter a ‘new normal’ employers have realised that workers don’t always need to be in office to be productive. As such, a new ‘hybrid’ working schedule is emerging, where many have ended up working in a combination of home and office environments. If you’re new to the working at home lifestyle, we’ve got you covered. Follow our top tips to make working from home easy!
1. Start your day right
It’s very tempting to stay in your pajamas all day and work from bed – don’t! Psychologically it’s good to start your day right. Have a shower, brush your teeth, don some sensible clothes. This will all get you in the mood to start working.
It’s a good idea to go for a small walk before you start working too. Getting outside and absorbing a bit of Vitamin D will give you a boost, and will clear your mind for the work ahead.
2. Give yourself a designated office space
Don’t work from bed! Whatever you do! It might feel cosy, but your back will absolutely rebel over time. If possible, try to create an office space at home. Whether this is a room or just a corner, having a designated office space will help you separate work from home life.
Make sure to create an appealing space too. Keep it clean and tidy, and brighten it up with flowers, posters or desk toys. Make your space a place you feel comfortable and productive.
And, if you have others at home, try to keep them away from your designated office space during working hours.
3. Invest in a green screen roller banner
If you’re having to have a lot of conference calls from home, create a professional space with a pop up green screen. These nifty devices are cost-effective and reusable.
Simply roll up the graphic and create your own digital background for those all important meetings.
You can also create branded roller banners to act as backdrops for your staff to conduct client meetings. This will keep your branding and professional image on point, even when your staff are at home.
4. Use a reward to motivate
When you’re working from home, there’s a lot of temptations nearby: the TV, the garden, the kitchen cupboard! Instead of treating them as distractions, use them as rewards. It gets to 5pm? Turn off the computer and crack on Netflix! Take advantage of the lack of commute and make the most of your evenings.
